Pay What You Can Online TRE

  • Want to learn another way to regulate your nervous system through the body?

  • Maybe you’ve heard of TRE®️ (pronounced like the letters T.R.E.), but not sure where or how to try it?

  • Looking for ways to release stress and stored tension?

Starting on Friday, March 22nd, certified TRE®️ practitioners, Jess Ryan, MS, LPC, NCC, E-RYT and Laniece Schleicher, MS, LPC, NCC, RYT will be offering a pay-what-you-can TRE® class 2x/month.

What is TRE®?  TRE® stands for Trauma and Tension Release Exercises. TRE® was created by Dr. David Berceli, PhD after he witnessed the effects of chronic stress on the bodies of the individuals he supported and helped in various war torn countries during his tenure as a clinical social worker and bioenergetic therapist. 

Dr. Berceli observed adults contracting and children shaking under high stress and he formulated this theory:

  • We are genetically encoded to contract our body to protect ourselves when we are experiencing stress and/or trauma.

  • We are also genetically encoded to release such contraction by tremoring and shaking but, as adults, we tend to repress this natural releasing response because shaking has a negative social connotation.

  • The seven TRE® exercises are designed to either stretch or mildly fatigue specific muscles to elicit the reactivation of this natural response called Neurogenic Tremors in a non-stressful environment and complete the BODY’s stress release.

As humans in modern life, daily stress and trauma accumulate in our bodies almost constantly.  A regular TRE® practice is an invitation for you to participate in simple exercises that have been shown to decrease tension, anxiety, and physical symptoms of stress in the physical body.  It is reported that TRE® also helps to improve sleep, digestion, immunity, mental flexibility, and decrease symptoms of chronic pain.

Do you have something that just keeps showing up in your life? An outdated belief, a pattern that’s been repeated in your family, something you’ve worked on in coaching or therapy, but it isn’t quite budging because you don’t have the time to focus on it intensely? 



Released is a program, in a close group of up to 4 humans, where you’ll identify a place you’ve been stuck and focus on releasing old energy through Internal Family Systems based coaching, breathwork, Somatic release, TRE, energy work, shamanic journeying, and reflection. When old energy is released, space and energy is opened up for your True Self to be seen and guide the way.



Released will include a 60-75 minute, small-group meeting, every-other-week, for 9 weeks and the format will look like:

Week 1: Using the IFS mode, intuition, and inner guides to identify and confirm what needs released most in your system 

Week 3: Let you body and nervous system release the past–TRE®️ session

Week 5: Breathwork and somatic movement to rewire the nervous system and release energetic blocks

Week 7: Bringing everything together with breathwork, TRE, and a shamanic journey to your deep wisdom, guides, and next-steps on your path

Week 9: Ceremony and closing



In these live-sessions you will be guided through your individual processes and are not required to share the details of your journey.



In the weeks we are not meeting,  this program will include any follow up materials (like reflection prompts, meditations, etc.)  and a 1:1, weekly voice, check-in with Voxer.



This program is for you if you:

  • Have an open mind and are ready for healing in new ways

  • You’ve tried other things and this is not budging

  • You have done some inner work and can tolerate feeling emotions

  • You’re ready to put in the work and participate in different modalities like TRE®️, breathwork, energy work, coaching and reflect during the in-between weeks

  • Have wanted to work with me 1:1, but haven’t had the time or financial resources (This group will not be as tailored as 1:1 energy work, coaching, or therapy, but will offer a MUCH more intimate experience than a large group program and can be a really powerful process on its own or in tandem with therapy or other modalities you might be using right now.) 

  • Are willing to share your feedback, experiences, and a testimonial.



This program of released is NOT for you if you:

  • Are looking for a quick fix…btw, there usually are no quick fixes for long term shifts

  • Can’t attend the 5 sessions

  • Don’t want to give feedback about the program

  • Need more tailored support through 1:1 work

  • Are in an acute crisis, have gone through a recent trauma, or don’t feel present

  • live, confidential sessions and 1:1 attention in a small group

  • energetic/spiritual/emotional/physical guidance from a trained psychotherapist, Reiki Master, Shamanic Practitioner, Breathwork facilitator, and TRE certified provider through your releasing process, 

  • plus 1:1 Voxer messaging, and prompts/practices to reflect on between sessions.

In recent years, much of the world has become more “trauma informed,” meaning that it is now widely acknowledged that much of the way we suffer - our physiological, mental, and relational struggles - are rooted in trauma. As yoga teachers, and other wellness industry professionals, we hold the intention of doing good. We want to help people to feel better as a result of our services. Though we are - like many - more “trauma informed” than we used to be, does this make us prepared to help?

Join Jess Ryan, LPC, NCC, E-RYT 500, and Steph Hanson, LPC, NCC, E-RYT, for this three hour lecture and practice for yoga teachers and mental health professionals hoping to integrate yoga and other somatic practices. We’ll discuss:

Scope of practice: what you CAN do, and when to “refer out”

Jess Ryan, MS, LPC, NCC, 500E-RYT

Founder of Our Real Work, Jess is a mix of science and soul. Serious and irreverent. Loving and real. She’s an Usui + Karuna Reiki Master and Shamanic Practitioner. Jess has been doing intuitive Reiki and energy work since 2004. She holds degrees in Medical Technology, Sociology, Environmental/Natural Sciences, and is a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in trauma. Jess mixes the practical with spirit and heart and believes in the power of the human spirit to heal, feel whole, and live fully.


Sarah Stepans, BSN RN

Owner/Founder of The Collective: Center for The Healing Arts and Waking Magic Within, LLC. Sarah is a Breathwork Facilitator, Reiki Master, Past Life Regression Facilitator, Integrative Practitioner, Shamanic Practitioner, Trance Dance Facilitator and Yoga Teacher. Sarah is also a Registered Nurse with a depth of experience working in pediatrics. During the 20 years working in healthcare, she regularly witnessed the connection between the physical, energetic, and spiritual selves, which drew her to breathwork and integrative practices. Sarah understands how breath affects physical, mental, and emotional well-being. She believes in the power of movement, the power of breath and she truly believes the power to heal lies inside every individual.

Blossom Yoga School's 200-hour Multi-Style Hatha Teacher Training is modeled after the eight limbs of yoga and offers an opportunity of integration of knowledge, experience, and practice into a lifestyle. By emphasizing teaching and practice, functional anatomy, and philosophy through a holistic approach that goes beyond the physical and honours the wisdom of traditional yoga, we prepare the student to take the seat of the teacher. 

The training consists of in-person study, practice, and teaching and independent reading and writing assignments, as well as personal practice.

Jess will be a guest teacher in this program weaving in energetic anatomy, chakras, koshas, and how we embody the layers of Yoga in this human experience.
